Shrijee's new design of perfect Entrainment Catcher was developed by its engineers in association with their overseas associates to meet the process requirements with following aspects in view: To eliminate the unknown loss of sugar through entrainment from Evaporator Vessels and Vacuum Pans. To ensure availability of pure, contamination free condensates to meet the Feed Water Quality Standard for generation of steam at pressures which are being progressively increased for realization of Fuel-Steam-Energy economies. To facilitate multi point bleeding of vapours for beating jobs without any risk of condensate contamination by carry - overs. Efficient stripping of vapours from the long tube - rising or falling film evaporators with flash feeds, being adopted for higher evaporation rates. Minimization of the corrosion of vessels, pipes and condensers etc. Caused by acid reaction of entrained sugar liquors. Avoiding pollution of condenser and spray cooling water caused by the entrained sugar house products.

The New Entrainment Catcher

The Entrainment Catcher consists of Multi Baffle plate made of Stainless Steel 304 quality in the form of corrugated sheets having a vortex at the top and steep angle between two layers. The opening between two baffles gives effective area, which is determined keeping in mind all the factors in evaporator vessels. The vapour travelling through the arrester strikes on the corrugated surface of the baffle and change of direction takes place resulting in the falling of droplets of the entrained sugar liquor and these droplets become so heavy that they can not be re carried by the incoming vapour.
